Have you ever heard the statement “when God closes a door, He opens a window”? I have heard it all my life; at church growing up, my grandma used to say it and even now it’s all over social media – and I completely 100 percent disagree with it.  So many times when a relationship ends, an opportunity goes away or we fail at something, it is a shut door.  But I believe if God shuts that door it’s because He’s not only going to open another door that’s  BIGGER and BETTER  but I think He is going to BUILD you a new entire honking big house!

God is not a squeeze thru the window kind of God.  In Ephesians 3: 20 says  Now to Him Who, by (in consequence of) the [action of His] power that is at work within us, is able to [carry out His purpose and] do superabundantly, far over and above all that we [dare] ask or think [infinitely beyond our highest prayers, desires, thoughts, hopes, or dreams]”.  Does that sound like a window to you? To me it sounds like He’s got a bigger, better, more than you could ever ask for relationship, career and life than we could ever experience or dream of. So when God closes a door He’s not opening a small window for you to crawl thru, and don’t settle for that. He’s is opening up something far more than you can dream or imagine. Change your perspective on how you look at disappointment, closed doors and even failure. Look at it like this, this closed door allows God to bring something bigger and better into your life.

Ask yourself these three questions…..

  • Have I ever experienced a closed door in my life. If so what?

  • Has a closed door in the past ever led to BIGGER and BETTER opportunities for me?

  • Am I thinking to small in relation to how God can or will bless me? If so why?
